- How do you get from the Ortenau to Strasbourg?
- The train takes 25 minutes from Offenburg. Driving across rarely pays — parking is the problem in Strasbourg, not the journey.
- What sets the Ortenau apart from the rest of the Black Forest?
- Altitude. Stay down on the plain and you get a mild climate and vineyards; twenty minutes higher the forest begins. Doing both in a day is easier here than anywhere else.
- When is the grape harvest?
- Usually mid-September to mid-October. Many estates open during it, and the villages hold autumn festivals.
