Region in the Black Forest

Holiday apartment in the Northern Black Forest

The northern Black Forest is the part you reach from Frankfurt or Stuttgart in about two hours — and the part where our own apartments are. National park, two spa towns and the ridge road sit close together here.

Worth knowing

  • The Black Forest National Park lies entirely here, along the ridge road
  • Bad Wildbad's treetop walk: 1,250 m of walkway up to 20 m above the ground, open all year
  • The Schwarzwaldhochstraße (B500) runs 60 km along the ridge, mostly around 800 m
  • 45 minutes from Karlsruhe, 90 minutes from Stuttgart

Best for: Short trips from Frankfurt and Stuttgart, walking without a long drive.

Common questions

How far is Bad Wildbad from Baden-Baden?
About 50 kilometres over the ridge road, roughly an hour. The road itself is the reason to take it — it runs almost the whole way along the crest.
Is the northern Black Forest reachable in winter?
Yes. The B500 is cleared, and both Bad Wildbad and Baden-Baden sit low enough that snow rarely stops the drive in. On the ridge it lies far more reliably than in the valley.
Is there anything to do in the rain?
Both thermal baths are open year-round, and so is the treetop walk. This is the corner where a wet day costs you least.
