Region in the Black Forest
Holiday apartment in the Enz valley
The Enz valley is a narrow, wooded cut with Bad Wildbad in it — a spa town that has used its thermal springs since the 14th century. A funicular climbs the Sommerberg from here, and the forest starts at the top.
Worth knowing
- The Sommerbergbahn has run since 1908 and climbs 300 m in four minutes
- The Wildline suspension bridge is 380 m long and swings 60 m above the valley
- The Palais Thermal of 1847 is one of Germany's oldest surviving thermal baths
- The Enz rises at the Kaltenbronn and joins the Neckar 105 km later at Besigheim
Best for: Walking and a thermal bath in one place, without a car once you arrive.

Common questions
- Can you manage Bad Wildbad without a car?
- Yes, which is unusual for the Black Forest. The tram from Pforzheim stops in the centre, the baths and the funicular are walkable, and the paths begin at the top station.
- What is the difference between the Palais Thermal and the Vital Therme?
- The Palais Thermal is the historic 1847 bath with its Moorish hall; the Vital Therme is the modern part with the saunas. They share a building and are charged separately.
- How long is the drive from Frankfurt?
- About two and a half hours via the A5 and Pforzheim. From Karlsruhe it is 45 minutes, from Stuttgart an hour and a half.
