Tourist tax and guest card

The tourist tax appears on the bill as a fee, and that is usually where it ends. But across much of the Black Forest the guest card carries KONUS: free use of local public transport for overnight guests, for the whole stay. Anyone planning day trips has therefore already paid for a travel pass — nobody works it out, because a line item called "tax" does not invite arithmetic. One caveat that matters: not every municipality takes part, and some towns run their own card on different terms. So we ask rather than assume. Say no and the saving is zero, not estimated.
